The latest unemployment figures have today been released for January to March, with a 45,000 decrease in the number of jobless people within the UK. Even though the results are promising, many have warned that the worst is yet to come as many are forced into part-time work and those who have been unemployed for more than a year increases.
In Four Years the Number of Men Seeking Part-time Work Has Doubled
Following yesterday’s news that over 1.7million people in the UK are classed as ‘under-employed’ it has been revealed that the number of men seeking part-time work has doubled in just four years. These latest figures come as many continue to warn that the number of people in part-time work is masking unemployment figures as people seek fewer hours because they are unable to secure a full-time job.

With a worrying level of unemployment in the UK, many are now warning people not to be deceived by the slightly lower levels, instead suggesting that people are becoming ‘under-employed’ in part-time roles. In the UK alone there are currently 1.77million people who are within this ‘under-employed’ category, working within part-time roles so they at least have a job when in fact they are wanting full-time or longer hours.
